Just about a year ago, with Shadow Mountain Golf Course perilously close to being closed, a group of community-minded residents negotiated a lease with the out-of-state owner putting the course safely and securely under local leadership.
Everything but the haggis: the Tribute course in Texas. Service Solid and prompt all day. The knickers-wearing marshals even helped us look for errant shots. And we managed to stifle a laugh when the friendly starter explained that this course featured “exact replicas of St. Andrews.”
INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. — Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort has been named the 2010 Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association, NGCOA officials have announced. Official recognition is scheduled for Feb. 11, during the association’s annual conference in San Diego.
After 15 years and millions of pounds, the Beal Valley golf course will stay a grassy open space, attacked by vandals and off-road motor bikes, if plans for the site are postponed next week.
