PINE HILL — Donald Trump has made two more acquisitions, this time adding a southern New Jersey golf course and one in New York’s Hudson Valley to his portfolio.

Just about a year ago, with Shadow Mountain Golf Course perilously close to being closed, a group of community-minded residents negotiated a lease with the out-of-state owner putting the course safely and securely under local leadership.

Everything but the haggis: the Tribute course in Texas. Service Solid and prompt all day. The knickers-wearing marshals even helped us look for errant shots. And we managed to stifle a laugh when the friendly starter explained that this course featured “exact replicas of St. Andrews.”

INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. — Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort has been named the 2010 Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association, NGCOA officials have announced. Official recognition is scheduled for Feb. 11, during the association’s annual conference in San Diego.

After 15 years and millions of pounds, the Beal Valley golf course will stay a grassy open space, attacked by vandals and off-road motor bikes, if plans for the site are postponed next week.

By Andy Powell Times Staff Writer The owners of the River Trace Golf Course avoided the property being sold from the steps of the Etowah County Courthouse today by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Tuesday afternoon.

Golf has taken its hits this year, from Barney Frank raising a congressional fuss over an elaborate Northern Trust party in the middle of an economic meltdown, to the Tiger Woods scandal that erupted over Thanksgiving weekend and continues to have legs into Christmas.

Chillicothe City Council members approved new programs for  Green Hills Golf Course with the hope to help boost revenues and move the city-owned golf course closer to self-sufficiency.
